Have your say: Let gyms and indoor fitness stay open!

With tier 3 restrictions looming for Leeds, let our leaders know how you feel by writing to your local MP.

A Blog about Studio News from Vicki Anderson

Let us keep practicing together, even through a second lockdown. Gyms and fitness studios have proven again and again to be very safe environments, data from UK Active say with more than 22 million gym and fitness visits between July and October, there were only 78 COVID cases. And the physical and mental health benefits we provide, are proven beyond a doubt. Write to your local MP, if you’re not sure what to write, you can just copy and paste this template:

Dear councillor,

As a resident of the West Yorkshire area, I understand that there are currently ongoing negotiations about which tier of COVID-19 restrictions Leeds and West Yorkshire is placed into, with a possibility that we are moved from tier 2 to tier 3.

I would like to ask that you appeal to the government that if such a deal is reached, gyms and leisure centers are allowed to remain open, including allowing group exercise in COVID secure facilities. During these stressful and uncertain times, physical exercise is more important than ever for keeping us physically and mentally healthy. To ban us from exercising together would be devastating, for so many people who are already struggling so much. The time that we spend training together, is for so many of us the only time when we can forget about the stress and uncertainty around us.

Please keep our gyms and fitness classes open!

Thank you,
